Pastor Andrew Montoro: Coalition Member Spotlight
This quarter’s coalition member spotlight is on Pastor Andrew Montoro.
Andrew Montoro is the pastor of Community Baptist Church and a dedicated member of the Riverhead Community Coalition. Pastor Andrew’s commitment to his faith, family, and community shines brightly through his work and involvement in the coalition.
BUILDING CONNECTIONS THROUGH COMMUNITY
Pastor Andrew has been working with the Riverhead Community Coalition since 2022. Pastor Andrew’s commitment to the Riverhead community shines during coalition meetings and activities. His insight helps shape coalition activities and strategies to address and prevent youth substance use.
Pastor Andrew’s love for his community continues in his role in the Pulaski Street Program. He has volunteered with this program since joining the coalition. CAP’s flagship Pulaski program provides evidence-based lessons on social-emotional skills and substance use prevention to all 5th and 6th graders in the Riverhead Central School District. It is taught monthly by community volunteers and Riverhead High School and Middle School peer leaders.
Riverhead Community Coalition Coordinator Isabella Marcucci recently sat down with Pastor Andrew to talk about his experience with the coalition. Here are the highlights:
Why did You join the Coalition?
“I joined the coalition because one of my members, the late Louise Wilkinson, was volunteering with the Pulaski Program and encouraged me to join. I thought it was a great opportunity to meet people in the community. It gave me another way to help people and make a lasting impact on young people, and I liked that.”
Favorite Coalition Activity
“My favorite coalition activity is the Meet and Greet! I enjoy talking to new people and having meaningful conversations. It’s a great way to learn from others, share experiences, and strengthen connections.”
Name Three Words or Phrases That Best Describe You
“Love for: Word of God, Family, and Helping Others.”
Besides coalition work, What else Do you Like To DO?
“I love preaching, surf fishing, classical guitar, and playing sports. I also like to do construction. Many of the updates done to Baptist Church I have done myself!”
